Dubai’s 2019 budget to generate 2,498 jobs with Dh56.8bn allocation

With a total expenditure of Dh56.8 billion, Dubai’s budget for 2019 has been approved by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. 

The budget for this year estimates general revenues at Dh51 billion, indicating a 1.2% rise from 2018. General and administrative expenses, grants, and subsidies comprise 47% of the total expenditure, rising by 5%. The budget also allocates 33% of its total to the health, education, and housing sectors. 

The Government of Dubai achieved an operating surplus of 850 million dirhams through its disciplined financial policies. 

Per a statement on Sheikh Mohammed’s website, the 2019 budget will generate 2,498 job opportunities. 

In 2018, Dubai’s budget was 56.6 billion dirhams, and it was geared towards infrastructure projects for Expo 2020 and social development programs. These initiatives aim to create over 3,100 job opportunities in the upcoming year.
